Tony La Russa said he expects Giolito to miss at least two start.
If there’s any reason for optimism, it’s that Giolito said his abdomen isn’t sore, and he doesn’t feel the pain when moving around normally. Additionally, Giolito said he’s planning on continuing to work his arm throughout the treatment for his injury.
“I’m going to try to keep my arm moving as much as possible so that when I do come back, whenever that may be, hopefully sooner rather than later, I don’t need to have this whole build up type of thing. I think that’s very possible to do.” La Russa announced Vince Velasquez will start the White Sox home opener, but beyond that declined to delve much further into his plans for the rotation. For now, the White Sox will try to get through the next two games. They’ll worry about next week, next week.
