WHO says new China virus could spread, warns hospitals worldwide
Thai doctors diagnosed a Chinese traveller with mild pneumonia on 8 January which was later confirmed to have been caused by the so-called novel corona virus - which has already given rise to 41 pneumonia-like cases and one death in China.
The World Health Organization confirmed that the outbreak in the city of Wuhan was caused by a previously unknown type of corona virus, a broad family ranging from the common cold to more serious illnesses like SARS. Today, the WHO said there may have been limited human-to-human transmission of the new virus in China within families, and it is possible there could be a wider outbreak.
