According to multiple reports, the Miami Dolphins have agreed to a five-year contract with free agent left tackle Terron Armstead. Armstead flew to Miami for a free-agent visit with the Dolphins on Sunday night, and Miami's front office has now appropriately closed the deal. Armstead entered free agency as the undeniable top blindside protector available, and his addition qualifies as a massive get for an improving Dolphins franchise.
McDaniel took over the Dolphins after a successful five-year tenure with the San Francisco 49ers as Kyle Shanahan's run game coordinator and offensive coordinator. In San Francisco, McDaniel helped Shanahan build an impressive offensive identity that heavily leaned on their rushing attack and top-notch play in the trenches. McDaniel has clearly learned from those experiences as he attempts to build his Dolphins in a rather similar fashion.
Miami's offseason plan has included upgrades at several playmaking positions, while also retaining tight end Mike Gesicki. The additions of Chase Edmonds and Raheem Mostert at running back, and Cedrick Wilson at wide receiver has further ensured that Grier has provided McDaniel with several of his preferred targets as he prepares to install his system and offensive scheme in Miami.
