Hannah Leonard, who suffered brain injuries after being hit by a car while running in Sicily, has been flown back to Ireland for continued treatment. Her father, Kevin, shared an emotional update on her condition and thanked the public for their support.

A Wicklow woman who suffered devastating brain injuries after being struck by a car in Sicily three months ago has returned to Ireland to continue her treatment. Hannah Leonard , from Bray, was in the early stages of her final long-distance run in preparation for the Dublin Marathon when the collision occurred on October 6th. The impact sent her flying approximately 15 feet across the road, where she landed on her head.

Hannah underwent three hours of life-saving neurosurgery, during which a large piece of her skull was removed to relieve pressure on her brain. Hannah's father, Kevin, has been providing updates on his daughter's condition through a GoFundMe page set up to help with her medical costs. The page has raised over €255,700 during her hospital stay in Sicily. In a recent update, Kevin revealed that Hannah was flown back to Ireland by air ambulance on Wednesday. She was transported to a local hospital in Dublin to continue her treatment. 'Hannah is home,' Kevin wrote on the fundraising page. 'Or at least at her new home for the time being, sneaking in under the cover of darkness yesterday. We kept the details of her return a secret from most people until now, not wanting to jinx anything.' He described the emotional day of her return after 101 days since the accident. Kevin said that Hannah's condition remains stable but that the family has noticed 'more little changes' in her in recent weeks. He also shared the emotional goodbyes the family had with the doctors and nurses who treated Hannah in Sicily. 'Her neurosurgeon coming to give us his final update, visibly emotional and saying that he wanted to be kept informed of Hannah’s progress and he hoped to visit her in Dublin,' Kevin wrote. The family is grateful for the support they have received from the public and the medical professionals who have cared for Hannah
