It happened just after its load was repositioned with the help of a crane
A lorry was involved in a second accident within a day -after spending hours blocking a road in Nottinghamshire road. The vehicle, one of two lorries carrying a wide load towards Arnold on Tuesday, May 30, was halted in Sandfield Road at around 6.30pm.
after it slipped off in Thackeray's Lane, Woodthorpe, forcing the road to close for more than six hours. Police taped off a stretch of the road between Fisher Avenue and Sandfield Road whilst recovery vehicles worked to lift the load back onto the lorry. Residents in Sandfield Road said drivers and police remained at the scene for more than an hour after the second incident. "We heard it and went upstairs to have a look," said Amber Wheat, who lives close by.
"Everyone was being nosey and having a look. I'm surprised they didn't make it more secure after the first one." The 29-year-old said that wide load lorries regularly drive down the road transporting materials to a development off Rolleston Drive. "We get it all the time," she continued. "But this is the first time something like this has happened." Gary Marriott, who also lives on the road, added "Over the last six months they've been doing early morning runs and it's been alright. This is the first major incident. I feel sorry for the driver."
