The widow of a man killed in September during a trench collapse has sued the City of Huntsville and associated contractors in connection with the incident.during a trench collapse at a construction site near Joe Davis Stadium. The incident happened when Huntsville Public Works employees were installing a storm pipe in John Hunt Park. The workers were trapped about 15 to 20 feet down.Lawyers for his wife, Quentin Mitchell Taylor, filed the complaint Monday morning in Madison County Circuit Court.

The 19-page lawsuit seeks punitive and compensatory damages from the city and more than 25 entities, with some identified as the architect, general contractor, engineer, geotechnical engineer and sub-contractors for the construction project. It also seeks the maximum workers’ compensation and medical benefits.

According to the suit, the defendants did not adequately inspect the project, failed to provide adequate protection, and did not have an adequate number of workers on the job.“The city, its Administration, and Mr. Green’s fellow employees remain deeply saddened by the tragedy wherein Mr. Green lost his life,” a statement reads.
