After the slap heard around the world, Will Smith partied at Vanity Fair’s annual Oscar bash.
D-Nice shouted out on the mic, “Congratulations to Will Smith!” and extolled Smith’s virtues as a close friend. The crowd was cheering along as Smith danced, but his wild altercation with Rock on Hollywood’s biggest stage had divided the town. Comedian Tiffany Haddish was overheard saying at the VF party that Rock should’ve checked with Smith first about the jokes — and that if she’d been insulted like that, she hopes her husband would defend her.Sean “Diddy” Combs — who’dfrom the Oscars stage after the show — told us that the feud had already been settled.
Others joked about the altercation. When a group of stars — including playwright Jeremy O. Harris, “No Time to Die” star Lashana Lynch, Roots drummer Questlove and comic Marlon Wayans — headed into Vanity Fair’s portrait studio to get a pic taken together, Wayans jokingly yelled out into a hallway: “We’re doing a Black photo! If you want to get slapped, you’ve got to get in!”when he entered the Vanity Fair party with his family, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
“Sacha! I need you to help me unzip!” yelled Isla Fisher to husband Sacha Baron Cohen after the couple had walked the red carpet at the party, and she then headed straight to the loo in her figure-hugging white gown.David Space said the slap “set a dangerous precedent.” Bill Murray was seen holding court with director Sofia Coppola and “Schitt’s Creek” star Catherine O’Hara in an outdoor area, while Jason Momoa chatted with “Atlanta” star Glover, and Ronan Farrow posed for a pic with Questlove.
