The pair can be seen carrying retro Tesco bags loaded with groceries as they are caught in a downpour in a scene from the final series of the Netflix drama.
The actors playing Prince William and Kate Middleton in the final season of The Crown have been seen sharing a kiss in the rain in St Andrews.
No detail has been missed for the scenes, set in the early 2000s when the pair met as they studied at St Andrews University. The cars parked in the street even feature paper tax discs in their windscreens – something cars haven't had in the UK since 2014. In interviews given since that time, Kate has recalled how she got to know him over time – revealing that they became "very close friends" from an early stage. She said: "William wasn't there for quite a bit of the time initially, he wasn't there from Freshers' Week, so it did take a bit of time for us to get to know each other, but we did become very close friends from quite early on.
It is not known how much of the couple's relationship will feature in the sixth series of the Crown, which will also focus on the death of Princess Diana and the changing dynamics of the royal family in the modern era after her passing. Insiders have suggested that there will be scenes showing Dominic West's version of Prince Charles - now King Charles III - in distress after seeing the body of his former wife.
