🎾 Evgeniy Zukin accuses the ATP and WTA of sending a message of ‘acceptance’ to Vladimir Putin over his illegal war in Ukraine jamesgraysport reports

“Of course we regret it. It’s a step back from what was done last year, but the conditions didn’t change. The war still goes on the same way,” Zukin, the CEO of the Ukrainian Tennis Federation , told“But it’s quite clear that in the tennis world, Wimbledon and LTA set the example of what shall be done, and the rest of the world just didn’t support it.

“And they cannot fight on their own against the ATP and the WTA who are for accepting what’s going on with Russians and Belarusians participating on the biggest stages of world tennis. They still continue to be used by the propaganda of Russia and Belarus to show their superiority over the others.“So these moves of lifting the sanctions is just showing the aggressors that everything is floating with a river of time, which is basically not right.

“If I don’t play against Russian and Belarusian players, I’m going to lose my ranking and basically my career will be over,” Kostyuk said this week on a call alongside Ukrainians and athletes from other countries, all of whom spoke about the pitfalls of allowing Russian athletes to compete on the world stage.

“And they completely forget about Ukrainians about their rights and about how they feel and in which conditions they should compete.”
