As British tennis ace Liam Broady takes to the world stage once more to try and secure his place in the next round of Wimbledon, we take a closer look at his life off the court
With the 2023 edition of Wimbledon now well underway, tennis fans around the world have been treated to another series of closely-fought matches as the best and brightest players from across the sport duke it out to try and secure the coveted trophy.
Four short years later, he took part in his first tournament at the age of eight and was thought to be showing exceptional promise as a future player at the tender age of 10. A short time later Liam participated in the 2010 Wimbledon tournament as part of a junior doubles partnership with Tom Farquharson, where they swiftly beat their opponents and secured the first British victory for a pair since 1995.
His success also continued into his senior career too, with the player making his way into the world Top 200 rankings for the first time in 2014. He also made it to the second round of Wimbledon, and made his debut at the Olympics for the first time, as he played the game of his life and managed to upset seventh seeded Wimbledon semi-finalist and World No. 12 Hubert Hurkacz at the Tokyo games.
Introduced to the sport by their father, both siblings couldn’t get enough of the sport and regularly began training and playing together in the hope of honing their skills. Supporting each other at each professional match to date, they were even able to share in the spotlight together at the Miami Open in 2021.
