A man was arrested late Wednesday after allegedly smashing dozens of car windows at three car dealerships in Schaumburg, police said.
Andrew M. McAuliff, 27, of Lake Barrington, was arrested after an overnight security crew called officers shortly before midnight to Schaumburg Honda Automobiles, 750 E. Golf Road, police Sgt. Matt Christanson said.
Vehicles at two other nearby dealerships on Golf Road were also hit with similar damage: Bob Rohrman Schaumburg Ford and Patrick BMW, Christanson said. Police haven’t yet tallied how many vehicles were damaged at those dealerships.General manager Matthew Ashford said his was just one of the dealerships struck, but it was the hardest hit.
In all, 83 cars had their rear windows smashed at the Honda dealership. Twenty of them were customer cars waiting for service. The rest were ready to be sold, 12 of them brand new.
