Cooler and unsettled weather swept the San Francisco Bay Area Monday morning with a cold front dropping down from the Pacific Northwest and delivering a chance of rain.
Weather service forecaster Brooke Bingaman said light rain was falling over Bodega Bay in the northern part of Sonoma County at 5:30 a.m. and the precipitation is expected to gradually spread south through the morning.
"It will be arriving in San Francisco soon," Bingaman said."The morning commute will probably be wet. The rain should continue until 10 a.m. or 11 a.m. and then it will move south of the Bay Area." Most areas across the Bay Area are forecast to receive 0.10 inch of rain with Monday's system, while some of the higher-elevation coastal terrain could measure up to a quarter of an inch, maybe even a half-inch.
Clear skies are in the forecast overnight with dry conditions expected Tuesday, but the chance for rain returns Wednesday. "We are looking at an unsettled pattern through the latter half of the week," Bingaman said."Wednesday through Saturday, there will be intermittent periods of rain. We're not talking downpours, but people should have a raincoat or umbrella handy."
