Winter weather advisory issued for central Ohio as snow moves into Columbus

The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory for a large section of Ohio stretching from Columbus to Cincinnati.

Snow is rapidly accumulating on roads and people are asked to use caution while driving, according to the National Weather Service.Snow, possibly mixed with freezing rain is expected today with snow accumulations of 1 to 3 inches. The advisory lasts until 7 p.m. and includes Franklin, Delaware, Licking, Fairfield, Pickaway, Union and Madison counties.

Chances of snow are also expected tonight and into Monday, although not much accumulation is anticipated. Matt Bruning, spokesman for the Ohio Department of Transportation, tweeted photos of Interstate 70 showing a fast moving snow storm heading east. There is just 16 miles between these two cameras on I-70 in Madison and Clark counties. Conditions will change very quickly. Be extra alert and slow down.
