A witness testified that he saw Nikita Burns, on trial for the murder of Robert Wilkin, with blood-stained clothing. The prosecution alleges that Burns and Alan Vial murdered Wilkin and disposed of the body. A brother of Alan Vial also testified about cleaning a car linked to the case.

Nikita Burns, a resident of Carrick in County Donegal, is currently standing trial for the murder of Robert Wilkin. She is accused alongside Alan Vial, from Drumanoo in Killybegs. During the trial, a witness named Gavin Mitchell testified that he encountered Ms. Burns at his apartment in Letterkenny on the night of June 25th, 2023. Mitchell described Ms. Burns as appearing highly distressed, anxious, and visibly shaken.

According to his account, she confessed to him that she had killed someone, stating she had severely beaten the victim's face with a rock. Mitchell further claimed that Ms. Burns told him she was with a young man named Alan, who had broken the victim's nose after he sexually assaulted her inside a car. He said that Ms. Burns had blood on her leggings and he provided her with a change of clothes. Under cross-examination, Mitchell admitted that he initially didn't believe her story, suspecting she was under the influence of drugs. Meanwhile, Bruce Vial, the brother of Alan Vial, testified that he visited his brother's home on the day in question to help clean his car. Bruce Vial recalled an incident a few days prior to the alleged murder where he witnessed a disagreement between his brother and Robert Wilkin at his residence. He stated that he next encountered his brother in the afternoon of the alleged murder when both Alan Vial and Nikita Burns arrived to clean a black VW Passat. After completing the cleaning, Bruce Vial noticed the vacuum cleaner was filled with a reddish substance which he assumed was vomit. He also observed a crack on the windscreen which wasn't present when the car arrived with Robert Wilkin a few days earlier. The prosecution argues that the car was being meticulously cleaned by Alan Vial and Nikita Burns following the alleged murder of Robert Wilkin, with the intention of disposing of the body and evidence
