Toto Wolff's not having Fernando Alonso's theatrics after near pit lane collision with Lewis Hamilton
Mercedes team principal Toto Wolff wasn’t having any of Fernando Alonso’s theatrics at the Canadian Grand Prix.
The Austrian was picked up by the cameras appearing to mock the Aston Martin driver for over-exaggerating a near-miss with his driver Lewis Hamilton.Hamilton’s teammate George Russell had just collided with a wall, allowing much of the grid to pit onto hard tyres under safety car conditions. Hamilton and Alonso were two of those to take the chance on lap 13, but the Mercedes was released slightly too close for comfort for Alonso.
However, when an on-board camera showed Alonso moving his steering wheel left to right to seemingly try and make the incident look worse than it was, Wolff was then seen pulling a face and copying the gesture. Hamilton stayed in front in second though, and on team radio Alonso said: “I had to break in the pits.”
