Major incident declared in Wolverhampton after large fire engulfs factories
More than 100 firefighters have been called in to deal with a fire involving a number of derelict factories near Wolverhampton city centre.Witnesses report hearing explosions and the fire was so large there have been reports of it being seen more than 15 miles away in Shropshire.One woman, who lives in the Bradmore area of the city, around three miles from the scene of the fire, told BBC WM: "The sky is red.
West Midlands Fire Service said on Tuesday morning it still had five fire engines and a number of other appliances at the scene and it was looking to "draw the incident to a safe conclusion".Police urged people to stay away from the scene and close their doors and windows Avanti West Coast apologised to passengers who reported being stuck on their trains for up to two hours and said services had resumed, via an alternative route, by 01:00.
