Woman arrested after car crashes into Preston wall during police chase
Lancashire Constabulary said their officers attempted to stop a Renault scenic at 3.50am today . Following a 'short pursuit' the car collided with a wall in Blackpool Road.
The incident resulted in the road being closed in both directions for several hours due to accident investigation work from Tulketh Road to Cottam Lane. A woman has been taken to hospital and her injuries are not thought to be serious, police said.A 27-year-old woman from Kirkham was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving, driving with excess alcohol, failing to stop and driving without insurance. She remains in custody for questioning.
Blackpool Road remains partially closed following the collision. Traffic alert service Inrix reports 'heavy traffic due' in the area this lunchtime. In a statement, the force said: "At 3.50am today our officers attempted to stop a Renault scenic. Following a short pursuit the Renault collided with a wall in Blackpool Road, Preston."A 27-year-old woman from Kirkham has been arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving, driving with excess alcohol, failing to stop and driving without insurance. A partial road closure remains in place at this time.
