Woman arrested, gun recovered after fight outside Head Start center in Poway [Breaking]
Deputies arrested a 31-year-old woman and recovered a gun from her vehicle after a fight in front of a Head Start center in Poway on Wednesday morning, a sheriff’s official said.
The altercation occurred about 9 a.m. in a parking lot outside the Head Start center at Midland Elementary School on Midland Road, said sheriff’s Lt. John Buckley. The incident forced the school to lock classroom doors as a precaution. Buckley said two women had gotten into a fight. One of the women threatened to hurt the other with a weapon, then crashed her car into the victim’s vehicle.The victim suffered injuries to her face that were not life-threatening. She was taken to a hospital for treatment.
When deputies arrived, the suspect was talking to the victim, Buckley said. Deputies recovered a gun from the glove box in the suspect’s vehicle. The suspect was arrested on suspicion of charges including making criminal threats, battery causing serious injury and possession of a weapon at a school. She complained of pain and was evaluated before being booked into the Las Colinas Detention and Re-Entry Facility in Santee, Buckley said.
