A female pedestrian has been killed in a suspected hit-and-run on Phibsborough Road in Dublin.
Gardaí are at the scene of the incident on Phibsborough Road.The scene has been preserved for a forensic examination and the road has been closed at its junction with Connaught Street.
Gardaí are trying to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident and details of what occurred remain unclear. The incident has been referred to the Garda Siochána Ombudsman Commission because of an earlier interaction between the car and gardaí. In a statement, GSOC said:"GSOC received a referral from An Garda Síochána on the night of Wednesday 4 October, following a road traffic incident in the Phibsborough area of Dublin."The matter is now under examination by GSOC and no further comment will be made at this time."Motorists are being advised to use an alternative route if possible.
