The victim was hit with a boot 'at least 10 times'
A woman was left with a patterned mark on her neck after her long-term partner attacked her with his boot. Derby Crown Court heard the woman was also strangled by Ian Foulke and that she later told the police she had put up with 'seven years of ****' at the woman-beater's hands.
Jailing him for three years, Judge Jonathan Straw said: “This was an extremely serious offence of its type and I am extremely concerned by what you said in your pre-sentence report.” Dawn Pritchard, prosecuting, said the incident took place on the evening of June 16, this year. She said a neighbour heard shouting between Foulke and his partner of seven years and went to bed. The prosecutor said by doing so she could see from her bedroom into the kitchen-diner of the defendant’s home in Codnor.
" then saw him repeatedly striking her with something, which we now know was his boot. The strikes numbered at least 10 times and she called 999. "She said she had put up with ‘seven years of s***’ to use her own words. In terms of injuries, there was a patterned mark to the left side of her neck from the boot.”
