On Thursday, August 17, Weena Ahluwalia was driving down New Road in Croxley Green when both tyres on the driver’s side burst after going over the pothole opposite Grosvenor Estate Agents.Left: The pothole at 5 inches deep. Right: The pothole after the temporary repair.“All of a sudden I felt this big dip and heard a loud bang, but because I only live two minutes away I carried on driving.
She said: “I was livid. I work at Heathrow Airport and was up since 2am. All I wanted to do was get home, sit down, and unwind.Weena Ahluwalia placed a cone in the pothole to prevent others from damaging their car, but it was removed.She said: “I don’t normally drive down that road, so I wasn’t aware of it, but some people have told me the hole has been there for about a month.Ms Ahluwalia said that the water in the hole made it hard to see as she was driving on the road.
She measured the pothole that was about five inches deep and placed a cone in it to stop others from damaging their car too, but the cone was later removed by someone. Ms Ahluwalia said: “I will claim for the money back for the tyres. But suppose I didn’t have enough money to repair the tyre?Affinity Water's temporary repair to the potholeA spokesperson said: “It has been temporarily filled but there is a leak which we are due to fix.Of the fix, Ms Ahluwalia said: “It’s a disgrace to see what effort has been made. But they have made some effort.”
