The 41-year-old victim was left shaken as a result and is currently being provided support by specialist officers.
The attacker, a man in his 30s, approached the woman around 1.30am on Sunday, in the Forbes Place area of the town centre.
At the time of the incident he was wearing a black gilet, white T-shirt and dark denim jeans.Detective Inspector Gary Sergeant of Paisley CID, said:"Enquiries are continuing to establish the full circumstances surrounding this incident and we are appealing to anyone who may be able to assist with our investigation.
