Florida has been called the nation’s “lightning capital,” with more than 2,000 lightning injuries in the state in the past 50 years, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

It took two hours for the movement to return to her legs.Doctors told her the lightning entered in her chest and exited through her left foot. The student was wearing sneakers so the current didn’t connect to the ground because of the rubber on her shoe, she said.
