The woman had been missing from her home since Tuesday and was located almost 24 hours later on a rocky shoreline
on the north side of Roney Rock close to the seaside town of Courtown.
The Irish Coast Guard air and sea helicopter Rescue 117 based out of Waterford Airport, a crew from Courtown RNLI, gardai and ambulance services were involved in the search and eventual successful recovery of the woman.The woman had been in the water for some time but she was described by emergency personnel as "alive and responsive".
A spokesperson for Courtown RNLI confirmed that the woman was successfully found alive and that she was receiving medical treatment. "The woman was missing since Tuesday night and we located her with the aid of Rescue 117 on Wednesday afternoon. She had been in the water before that. The fact that she was recovered alive was very lucky," the spokesperson stated.The rescued woman was brought by ambulance to a nearby hospital, where she received medical treatment.
