Sandra Sandaraite (39) had presented in hospital with 'broken bones' and had been punched 'several times'

Sandaraite had initially denied any involvement in his death and further denied knowing who he was, despite being in an “on-and-off” relationship with Mr Czech for years.
At the scene on the night, Sandaraite told gardaí she had blood on her fingers because she had checked the dead man’s pulse. Det Insp Flynn said Sandaraite and Mr Czech had been in a relationship for around three years, which gave rise to 24 complaints of "violent behaviour" to gardaí “from both directions” and that “excessive consumption of alcohol” was a feature of their relationship.
Michael Bowman SC, for Sandaraite, said the charge arose in the context of a “domestic dispute framed by alcohol.” Mr Bowman said his client had been a good employee but that her work as a chef “suffered significantly” from alcohol abuse. Mr Bowman said that over the course of a “transient” relationship with Mr Czech, Sandaraite had presented in hospital with "broken bones" and had been punched “several times”.
