Staff will now take the next few weeks to make sure the centre at Stonehouse Hospital, named the Briar Centre, is ready to accept patients ahead of its official opening.
Construction work has now finished to create a new dedicated Brain Injury Assessment and Rehabilitation Centre within Lanarkshire.
“In Lanarkshire, an average of 250 people a year sustain a brain injury severe enough to require specialist rehabilitation. Currently, people with a brain injury requiring hospitalisation are admitted to a general ward within our acute hospitals. The inpatient and community brain injury rehabilitation service will allow the most effective and seamless rehabilitation across all parts of the patient’s recovery.
