Workers have opened up about 'getting abuse' from frustrated drivers
Workers carrying out important repairs on a busy road have opened up about 'getting abuse' from frustrated drivers. It comes as delays to traffic have been reported on Thane Road, near Boots headquarters and Lenton Industrial Estate, from February 7 until February 16 due to Cadent gas works.
But a worker on the site said working at the location while putting up with drivers has been "stressful". The worker, who did not wish to be named, said: "We got a lot of abuse here."We get a lot of people coming to us asking questions, and many of them are a bit disgruntled. Drivers shout at us as they go past."
"We do not want to upset anyone, but these works could prevent fires for example so it would be very dangerous not to have them done. People think the power goes from house to house, but it is all in the grounds unfortunately. He added: "We get stuck in traffic too when we travel here, also because there is no other way here. So we have to put up with our own roadworks. Some drivers have talked about the "inconvenience".
