He was sadly pronounced dead and was taken to Cork University Hospital where a postmortem is due to be completed.
The incident reportedly happened at a wood yard in Dromina, near Charleville, on Thursday and emergency services rushed to the scene.
The man in his 60s had suffered an accident while working at a wood yard. The man was very well known in the area and worked as a woodcutter, CorkBeo reports. A garda spokesperson confirmed that the Health and Safety Authority of Ireland were notified of the incident and attended the scene yesterday as part of the investigation.
They said: "Gardaí and emergency services attended the scene of a fatal incident at a premises in Charleville, Co. Cork yesterday afternoon, 15th June 2023.
