The Connacht man played every minute in all five of Ireland's games at the tournament and scored five tries
Bundee Aki has been nominated for the World Rugby Player of the Year Award after his impressive performances for Ireland at the World Cup.He is one of four nominees for the award, along with last year's winner and France captain Antoine Dupont, South African second row Eben Etzebeth and New Zealand's no 8 Ardie Savea.Aki is the outsider of the four to win the award, with BoyleSports pricing him at odds of 9/1.
If Aki does is successful, he’ll become just the fourth Irish player to win the award after Josh van der Flier in 2022, Johnny Sexton in 2018, and Keith Wood in 2001. Other Irish men to have received a hat-tip include Hugo Keenan, who has been nominated in the Try of the Year category while Ireland head coach Andy Farrell has been shortlisted alongside New Zealand’s Ian Foster, South Africa’s Jacques Nienaber and Fiji’s Simon Raiwalui and is 3/1 to be named Coach of the Year.
