A contractor on the Isle of Arran initially thought he may have discovered human remains when he came across a set of wrapped potato sacks.
A plane propeller suspected to be from World War Two has been found nestled inside potato sacks in a Scottish peat bog.
Derek Alexander, head of archaeology for the National Trust for Scotland which oversees the land where the propeller was discovered, stated: "We are intrigued by the discovery of the propeller blade, which certainly looks to be from a WWII plane." "It may have been gathered during the clean-up of the site in the 1940s, immediately after the impact, or through subsequent work by the trust in the 1980s. It's too early to tell but we are determined to get to the bottom of it."
Mr Alexander added: "We are not permitted to remove wreckage from such sites without first obtaining permission – so the accidental discovery of a propeller blade, outwit the known spread of fuselage debris, that had obviously been previously moved is quite an unusual situation."

World’s Oldest Whisky Found in Scottish Castle to be AuctionedA stash of whisky, believed to be the world's oldest, was discovered in the cellars of Blair Castle in Perthshire. However, doubts were raised about the whisky's age and authenticity, as carbon dating only confirmed the possibility of it being from the early 19th century. The fill level of the liquid in the bottles and the high abv raised suspicions of tampering. The Queen Victoria story was also deemed unlikely. Whisky Auctioneer revised its language to be more speculative.
