According to Delaware State Police, the driver of a pickup truck moved out of its lane, crossed the center lane, and entered the lane Briscoe was driving in, causing a head-on collision that resulted in the death of both drivers. Briscoe's two daughters, who were in the back seat, were transported to a hospital in critical condition.

Troopers say 27-year-old Lillyanne Ternahan of Frankford, Delaware, was driving a 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and traveling west on Laurel Road as Briscoe was traveling in a 2016 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 east in the same area. Ternahan moved out of the lane, crossed the center lane and entered the eastbound lane of Laurel Road, causing a head-on collision in the eastbound lane, according to state police. Briscoe's two daughters, ages 9 and 12, were in the back seat and they were both transported to a local hospital, where they were placed in critical condition, state police say.
