James McClean, a 35-year-old winger, was involved in a single- car accident on Wednesday morning while on his way to Wrexham training. Wrexham AFC confirmed the incident, stating that the player was involved in a single-vehicle accident with no other cars involved. The club also mentioned that the player reported to them and will undergo further medical checks as a precaution. Local authorities and emergency services responded to the scene near Wrexham Golf Club.
The accident occurred around 9 am, blocking the A534 road. Thankfully, no serious injuries were reported. Images circulating on social media showed an Audi RS6, believed to be McClean's vehicle, being transported on a pickup trailer a few miles from the Wrexham training ground. McClean, who joined Wrexham in 2023, has earned 103 caps for the Republic of Ireland, making him the fifth most capped Irish male footballer. The club did not disclose the player's name, but sources confirmed to the PA news agency that it was McClean.
