Kimberly Butler, a Republican candidate for a state legislature seat representing parts of Lauderdale and Limestone counties, plans to file an election contest after at least 67 voters were given the wrong ballots and Butler missed a spot in the runoff by 15 votes.
Butler said Wednesday that issues raised over election integrity since the 2020 presidential election makes this confusion a concern that needs to be remedied. Referencing the situation in Etowah County, Alabama Secretary of State John Merrill has said there is no provision in state law for a primary election to be held again.
