Microsoft's proactive account moderation tools were busy in the first half of 2022.
details the steps Microsoft has taken to moderate and keep players safe on the Xbox platform. According to Microsoft, the company made over 7 million"enforcement actions" between January 1st and June 30th 2022. Approximately two-thirds of enforcement actions issued in the first half of 2022 were a result of proactive detection, which suggests Microsoft's tech is working hard to spot and take action on negative content and conduct before players notice.
Microsoft also provided a breakdown of the most common areas of policy violations. Of the 4.78 million proactive enforcement actions taken between January 1st and June 30th, 4.33 million involved cheating or inauthentic accounts.
The report also reveals that with the increase in proactive actions taken, the number of player reports made between January 1st and June 30th has decreased by 36% compared to the same period in 2021 . The majority of the 33.08 million reports related to player conduct, which includes cheating, unsporting conduct, and teamkilling.
