York County man sentenced for smuggling cocaine through mail

Stock photo. United States Postal Service collection box. A York man will serve six years in prison for his involvement in a scheme to smuggle cocaine into York County from Puerto Rico in November 2019 according to United States Attorney John C. Gurganus.

Hector Castro-Padro, 36, tried to obtain a box he knew contained a kilogram of cocaine. The box had been previously shipped from Puerto Rico and on its way to an address in York according to the report. However, Law enforcement authorities began investigating the box after U.S. Postal Inspectors stopped the package and discovered the cocaine.

Law enforcement authorities arrested Castro-Pedro when he took custody of the package. According to the report, the case was investigated by the United States Postal Inspection Service and the Pennsylvania State Police.
