The 23-year-old has had a breakthrough season already after steering 22-1 shot Live In The Dream to win the Group 1 Nunthorpe Stakes at York’s Ebor meeting six weeks ago
Young Irish jockey Sean Kirrane will try to crack America this weekend as he dreams of Breeders' Cup glory. But now connections have taken the gamble of bringing the horse to the United States in the hopes of winning at the Breeders' Cup next month.Kirrane has been booked to ride Live In The Dream in the Grade 2 Woodford Stakes at Keeneland on Saturday.
"This is a massively exciting moment, especially with a horse who has a live chance as he does," Kirrane told the Racing Post. "We knew we had a good horse on our hands, but I don't think we knew he was capable of winning a Group 1 this year. We thought he might have had targets like the Abbaye and Nunthorpe next year, but I'm so pleased connections took a gamble and ran him because he showed how good he was.
Growing up in Mount Merrion in Dublin and going to Blackrock College is not the typical background of an Irish jockey.
