The attack occurred in the early hours of Tuesday morning
A garda investigation is underway after a young woman was rushed to hospital following an early-morning attack in Co Galway .
The victim of the attack, a woman in her 20s, was taken to University Hospital Galway to be treated for non-life threatening injuries. Gardai have also issued an appeal to the public and are requesting any pedestrians or motorists who were travelling on either the Old Monivea Road or the Ballybane Road between 5 and 5.30am to come forward.
