OK, maybe, just maybe, a good guy with a gun could stop a bad guy with a gun. But we just saw that many good guys with guns could not stop a bad guy with an assault weapon in Highland Park, Ill.
I feel it’s important to mention that I am 71 and have voted Republican since I was 18. No one in my Republican family agrees with our Republican leaders on protecting these gun rights.Another day in America, another mass shooting or two. What will it take to get assault rifles off the streets? Perhaps a travel advisory by other nations that the U.S.
It is sickening to hear the lame excuses about unsecured doors, dangerous immigrants and mental illness when they know well they are not the reasons.One thing revealed by the overturning of Roe v. Wade is how much misunderstanding there is about our Constitution and what constitutes democracy. Yet in 1973, seven justices said abortion was a right and gave power over it to the federal government. Now, six justices have made the correct decision to send the issue of abortion back to the states, where it can be voted on democratically by the people.
