The forward hasn't played since suffering a medical issue in May.
Leeds Rhinos forward Zane Tetevano has left the club after being granted an early release. The 32-year-old, who suffered a stroke earlier this year, has returned home to New Zealand in order to prepare for life away from the UK.
Tetevano had heart surgery earlier this year and will not be able to play again this season. With his contract set to expire at the end of the year, the Rhinos have granted him permission to depart early. He arrived at the club from Penrith Panthers ahead of the 2021 season and departs having made 47 appearances.
Speaking about the New Zealand international, head coach Rohan Smith said: "Everyone at the Rhinos wishes Zanewell as he leaves the club and thanks him for his efforts during his time at Headingley. It has been a tough period for him this season, but he is set to make a full recovery thankfully, and his health has always been our priority."
His departure frees up a quota spot for Smith to use next year. Lachie Miller and Matt Frawley will use the two vacated by Aidan Sezer and Blake Austin, though Tetevano's departure, and the expected exit of Nene Macdonald, will provide another two."I would like to thank everyone at the Rhinos for the support they have given me over the last three years," Tetevano said.
He becomes the fifth confirmed departure at the end of the season. Aidan Sezer will join Wests Tigers and Sam Walters is heading to Wigan Warriors. Smith has previously confirmed Liam Tindall will leave, he will be announced as a Hull FC player moving forward, while Blake Austin will officially leave on November 30th, despite already departing on loan to Castleford Tigers.
