“I felt that Twitter wasn’t a hospitable place for females, particularly female journalists.' virginmedia zaraking
News reporter Zara King had to take a step back from Twitter as she felt it was fast becoming an unpleasant place for women.
The journalist has unfortunately had to deal with trolls since she first became a prominent voice in news during the Covid-19 pandemic and has decided to scale back on using Twitter as a result. “I instead focus all my time on Instagram and it's just a place where there is a huge cohort of people, particularly women under 45 who are really interested in news and interested in what is happening,” she added.Working in current affairs is full-on as the news never stops rolling, and this is something that Zara has had to learn to live with.
“If I didn’t work in news I would still be consuming it, probably quite a lot. It’s not so much of a chore when you’re doing what you love. “Everyone needs that every now and again. For me, my plan going forward is to do one thing a week just to make sure I have a bit of me time.”
