Anti-regime fighters hold a position near Aleppo, Syria, following a major offensive that began earlier this week and led to the recapture of areas around the city. The offensive, led by Hayat Tahrir al-Sham, resulted in the deaths of 27 civilians, including eight children, as government forces pummelled rebel-held areas.

Insurgents launched a major offensive three days ago, recapturing territory before entering Aleppo , a city in Syria . The offensive was initiated by Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) from the Idlib countryside. During the fighting, 27 civilians, including eight children, were killed. Turkey’s Anadolu news agency reported that insurgents had entered Aleppo , supported by some Turkish-backed Syria n rebel groups.

This marks the first time in four years that insurgents have captured territory around the city’s outskirts
