And he’s starting in his hometown of New Braunfels.“Everything is run by older people, and it’s not really fair to the younger generation,” Paiz said.
He also helped to found the Comal Young Democrats group, “to give a safe space to people who wanted to share their opinions.”Paiz said if elected, he hopes to focus on public transportation, sidewalks, bike lanes, infrastructure, and cost of living. And he wants to decriminalize possession of small amounts of marijuana, as did neighboring San Marcos in the Nov. 8 election.
If he wins, Paiz will join the ranks of other Generation Z members who recently won offices in and around South Central Texas. In Hays County,recently won the county’s election for district clerk, unseating a veteran Republican incumbent. And in San Antonio, 19-year-old Michael Valdez won a seat on Edgewood Independent School District’s school board. He was sworn in Nov. 15.
