SWEDEN’S LUDVIG ABERG fired a superb nine-under-par 63 to take two-shot lead after the first round of the PGA Tour’s Farmers Insurance Open at Torrey Pines in California.

Aberg reeled off eight birdies and an eagle with one solitary bogey to card the lowest-scoring opening round of his career, taking advantage of perfect conditions on Torrey Pines’ North Course. Walker’s round came on the more challenging South Course at Torrey Pines, with the 29-year-old from Florida carding seven birdies in a bogey-free round.
