Bafta-winning TV writer Simon Carlyle will help to develop the series after having success in recent years with Scottish sitcom Two Doors Down. ‘If someone had told little old me back in Northampton that ITV would give me my own sitcom based on my life I would have choked on my Flumps.’supports HTML5 videoHe continued: ‘Super proud that I can share my story with you – expect lots of giggles, pathos and nostalgia and believe it or not football – who knew?’
Alan will star in the series as himself when the story catches up to the present day. Before that, breakout actor Oliver Savell will play him as a child.Savell became known to British audiences earlier in 2022 after starring in Kenneth Brannagh’s Oscar-nominated coming-of-age film Belfast.
