'The view is different on ourselves,' said the veteran. 'As Irish people we can lack a lot of confidence and can be a small bit too humble at times. We've done an awful lot of work on ourselves'
Keith Earls claims that losing the World Cup opener to hosts France ignited a spark in the All Blacks - but insists Joe Schmidt's dossier on Ireland's players is too dated to be useful for Saturday's quarter-final.
"But what we've seen in this World Cup, they're starting to come back with a roar and they've made some incredible performances. "He probably knows things about individuals but, again, we have all changed our habits under this coaching staff and we genuinely don’t use any of the habits that Joe taught us.
"He made me think about the game differently and how important it is for 1-15 and 1-23 to be prepared and in sync for a team to win.Earls says that Ireland must back themselves to be perfect against a "highly emotional" All Blacks side going all out for revenge. "We just sat down after that first Test loss and had a conversation that we didn’t really fire that many shots, although we scored one or two tries," said the Munster star."We lost a lot of moments in that first Test and we understood what it took to beat them - and it came through in the second and third Tests.Earls believes that the comeback Test series triumph was "huge" in this Ireland team's development.
Earls will hope to be involved. He picked up a hamstring niggle before the Scotland game and, along with Henshaw, he sat out the warm-up last Saturday night.
