Kinkaid junior Sydney Smith is the private school team AGH swimmer of the year.
*=individual or relay state championSmith captured a pair of gold medals at the Southwest Preparatory Conference championships and was the only female swimmer from the Houston area to accomplish that feat. The junior started out with a victory in the 100 butterfly, clocking in at 54.65 seconds. She followed that up with a triumph in the 100 backstroke at 55.56.
She also helped Kinkaid take bronze in the 200 and 400 freestyle relays.Gerwick guided the Lions to a first-place finish at the TAPPS Division III state championships in San Antonio. Legacy Prep scored 300 points to edge out Logos Prep and John Paul II for the title. The Lions won all three relay events and had several standout performances from Emily Tomlinson, Janey Leiker, Hannah Bryant, Serenity Stepanik, Alexis Eversull, Layla Faysal and Charlie Kerr.
