Kinahan cartel leaders had been tipped to set up home in Russia amid speculation they were planning to flee their Dubai bolthole
The country’s ambassador to Ireland says in an exclusive interview with the Irish Sunday Mirror: “It is a no-go for Russia.”

But now, in an exclusive interview with the Irish Sunday Mirror at the Russian Embassy in south Dublin’s Orwell Road, Ambassador Yury Filatov rules out such a move.He says of a mooted move to Russia: “I am not aware of any plans like that.“I don’t think that, speaking hypothetically, there is any chance of a criminal coming to Russia.
That request was sent via Interpol last October and McGovern, from Crumlin, was arrested after Ireland made a direct government to government request for him to be sent back.One is the murder of Noel Kirwan, 63, outside his home in Clondalkin, west Dublin in 2016.
