Expatsi , a company assisting US citizens relocating abroad, experienced a dramatic increase in inquiries about moving to Ireland in the two weeks following the election results. The company's director, Jen Barnett, reported a month's worth of website traffic within a few hours after the election.
Since the race was called, over 2,500 visitors expressed a preference for relocating to Ireland, and another 6,000 were recommended based on their needs. This represents a significant jump from the 647 who expressed interest in moving to Ireland in the five weeks prior to the vote. Nicholas and Karenelise Metz, a couple from New Hampshire, are among those planning to leave the US. They cited fear for their family and embarrassment with the current political climate as reasons for their decision. Ireland, a place they previously visited and fell in love with, is their top choice. Nicholas described Trump's victory as a 'nightmare' and stated that many families in their neighborhood are also making similar moves
