Pretty much all houses have the potential to be extended. But how do you move from there to figuring out what you should do to improve them? And how do you avoid mistakes?

To rephrase this in a more positive way: you should think about how the extension will relate to the rest of the house, and vice versa.

At this stage, you won’t even have a clear idea about what it is you plan to do. And even if you did, you still wouldn’t know what it would cost. But you might have an idea of how much you are prepared to spend, or how much you have available to spend.
