Defending champions Armagh secure their third consecutive victory in the Lidl National Football League, defeating Dublin in a thrilling encounter.
Armagh secured their third consecutive victory in Division One of the Lidl National Football League, defeating Dublin 0-11 to 2-4 at Parnell Park. Niamh Reel shone for the defending champions, contributing five points to their cause. Armagh established an early lead, with Reel and Maeve Lennon scoring consecutive points from the corner-forward positions. Despite creating chances, Dublin struggled to gain momentum in the first half, allowing Armagh to extend their advantage to four points.
The tide turned when Jess Tobin received a yellow card, leaving Dublin a player short. However, the home side rallied impressively, wiping out Armagh's lead with a goal from Kate Sullivan and a pointed free from Chloe Darby. While Armagh regained control with scores from Niamh Coleman and Reel, Dublin captain Carla Rowe kept them within striking distance with a free, leaving the halftime score at 0-6 to 1-2 in Armagh's favor. The second half began with Reel extending Armagh's lead, but Dublin remained persistent. Niamh Hetherton eventually scored a goal for Dublin, narrowing the gap to a single point. Although both teams exchanged scores, Hetherton struck again, finding the net to bring Dublin level with 5 minutes remaining. However, Armagh held firm, weathering the late Dublin surge and ultimately securing a hard-fought victory.
